Hi there
The last time I went to Albert Court Village Hotel, it was for a event but this time round I managed to spend a night there to just take a break from all the hustle and bustle and celebrate my wedding anniversary. 🙂
And of course how can I not do a reviews on it as well right? haha… 🙂
So let’s check out how the room and facilities are 🙂
After checking into the hotel at the main wing, you will be greeted a dining area with some seatings where you will be able to enjoy a quiet breakfast if you opt to dine in the club rooms rather than the restaurant itself.
To me, this hotel is more of a business inn, rather than family hotel, but hotels like this sometimes does have its beauty compared to the big branded ones.
If you saw my last post, you will know they provide internet services and have 2 mac computer if you need to do a quick surf. 🙂
Magazines where you can pick and read while enjoying your breakfast.
As this side is the club rooms side, it has its privacy, and their reception is away from this building as well. You can only find the reception at the opposite block which is where the restaurants, bars, and function rooms are.
Now to the rooms itself, we stayed on the second floor and the color scheme is very earthy kind.
Bed was comfy, pillows are firm and comfy too, I remembered I tried one hotel which use goose feather pillows, oh mine, sounds very nice but my neck just didn’t cut out for these kind of luxury, haha…
As we were on the second floor, you can basically see the street level from the windows.
Bottles water is provided as well. I think it is pretty much a norm these days.
But one of the thing that I like about this hotel is the floorings, yeah, floorings, strange right? haha.. the reason is that they do not have carpet floorings in the room, I personally don’t find many hotels have that, if I am not wrong, Ibis Hotel is also with wooden floorings. Ok, it can be a little noisy but somehow, I feel its cleaner than way – somehow…..
In room facilities like bathrobes, iron & board, safe are all in place.
Shoe shine also, see I told you, doesn’t that remind you of business hotel?
If you are tourist, they also have various things line up at the hotel, like chartered rickshaw rides, local cuisine dining promotions, etc.
And now for the bathroom, which I am quite particular about. Honestly, it is not the newest & brightest, actually the bathroom is a bit run down, although it has all the things required, but this also deter me to take a hot bath as well because of the aging look of the bathroom.
Ammenities is the usual suspect like toothbrush, shower cap, comb, etc.
And the room which I checked in had some problem with the flushing system, and after I called the front desk, they promptly ask housekeeping to fix for me, which is quite impressive, kudos to that. 🙂
Couple of mineral water for you so that you can bring out if you do decide to hang around Little India which is just near by.
They also promote save the environment concept in this hotel, which I like. Usually I will use the towels for more than a day if the hotel does put up these kind of signs, doing our part ya? 🙂
My room comes with free mini bar, so you can find a few can drinks like soya milk, pepsi etc, in it. Fridge is good enough as well.
This is a shot of the corridor leading to our room, I spotted quite a few water marks on the carpet though.
And this view is one of my favourite, right in front of the lift lobby, you can go through this walkway where you can see some greenery. Actually after we checked in, we saw a couple of people doing exercise there, it was quite a hilarious sight, haha… yoga pose on the go.
Now comes the breakfast, which I have the option to either go to Club room side or Albert Cafe & Restaurant, I went for the latter.
Pricing is very reasonable I don’t think you can find many hotels which provide breakfast at this price.
But of course at this price, you surely can’t expecting a huge spread, but I think the spread is good enough. My husband decided to sleep in so I went alone to enjoy my sunday morning breakfast, they have small seats, so I do enjoy the time I spend there just eating and lazing with my music.
Their spread include western, indian and some chinese, nothing fancy but good to kick start the day.
I even enjoyed my porridge which I topped with some simple good old condiments as well.
But what really blows me away, was their fried rice, I kid you not, fried rice in the early morning? haha.. but that’s what I had for my last portion of breakfast. I was so surprised by how good it was, until now I have not tried any fried rice like this, the rice was very chewy and not broken at all, and it tasted so good!
Every grain texture feels like party in my mouth, I actually slowly savour every bite of it. Too bad I only found out this gem after I have my breakfast, if not I think I might just as well have ths alone.
Overall, Albert Court Village Hotel is not any fancy hotel but it does exudes its charm in its own way, and for tourists who want to go to explore Singapore, Little India is just a stone throw away. I actually also walked to The Cathay to enjoy a movie with my husband as everything is walkable distance, and with Bugis+ just about 5 mins walk, this locaton is pretty good on its own. 🙂
