Hi there
I was at a “Photos make your Blogs go Pop!” workshop organized by Omy.sg & Panasonic just a week ago at Albert Court Village Hotel, had a blast and thought I might as well take this opportunity to talk about the hotel and also the place which holds a special place in my heart since I reached Singapore – Little India 🙂
Albert Court Village Hotel is a boutique hotel comprising restored pre-war shop houses with Straits Chinese carvings and motifs, located near the Art Museum, National Library, Art Schools and Little India where more cultural heritage beckons.
Although Albert Court Village Hotel is very near to my work place, I have yet to step in there for once. So I took this opportunity to see if I can find any new gems in this hotel and perhaps a new plan on my next staycation. 🙂
As the workshop include a little hands on session at the heart of Little India, I was actually quite excited about it, as I always have a soft spot of Little India area.
Whenever my overseas friends come to visit me, I will bring them there, especially to Mustafa to shop, its kind of like a little gem that showcase practically anything under the sun and I really love the spices and Indian products they have there, at really great price and the variety just make me go speechless…. 🙂
Back to Albert Court Village Hotel Singapore, from what I know, it has 201 rooms and suites available, which is suitable for both business and leisure traveller. One big draw over there, is how it is off the hustle and bustle of prime CBD area, yet it is accessible to many attractions.
If you are into the arty stuff, you will get to check out the Singapore Art Museum, Lasalle Art School, or just a stroll away, there are many good finds and eateries and cafes which will charm your day. It is also like a mini melting pot, with Hindu temple and Chinese temple and even Church nearby, just show you how Singapore has perfectly evolve into a nation of diverse multi culture.
Albert Court Village Hotel has all the services which you can find in a proper hotel like
- Baggage storage
- Airport transfers
- Baby sitting services
- Doctor on call
- Landry & Drycleaning
- Safe deposit boxes
- Gym & Jacuzzi & Steam room
- Meeting rooms
They even have a self service Landerette which is really convenient for business travellers when they just wanted to do some light laundry.
Their in room service and amenities include :
- Broadband internet access
- Cable TV
- Electronic Safe Box
- Hair Dryer
- Mini Bar
- Room Service
As I have yet to have a staycation at the hotel, I am not quite sure how spacious the room will be or how it will actually look like but as of now, this hotel definitely covers beyond the minimum. 🙂
Just right at the entrance, there is a Lobby Bar, where you can just kick back and enjoy their Albert Court Village Hotel Singapore special concoction cocktail while chatting with your friends over some drinks and bar snacks.
I have tasted their special Albert Court Village Hotel cocktail, and it is really refreshing and thirst quenching, perfect after an outing at Little India. 🙂
Besides bar counter, they also have regular seatings near to it, great to take a break and wait for your friends or business partners for pick up.
Although I have yet to try out a proper meal over at the Hotel, during the reception of the workshop, they have prepared some light refreshments, the food was tasty, like the lemony custard flavoured tarts. Instant perk before heading out for the hands on workshop. 🙂
Nice cup of tea anyone? 🙂
Some of the mini pick-me-up snacks before the outing include lemony custard tart, tuna sandwich, mini quich, marble cheese cake and almond crossiant. Yum..
Strolling along, you can see the unique decorations they have, there is some sort of hertiage influence yet with some eccentric elements in it.
I must say I had quite a different perception towards the hotel before I have set foot in it, and was pleasantly charmed by how the interior actually looked like. 🙂
Right at the middle of first floor where the meeting rooms and the workshop is being organized, they have this opened up roof which reminds me something like the old shop houses that I used to see when I was a very little girl, brought back quite a few good memories indeed.
Even though the lobby of the hotel is not very spacious, they have somehow created spaces which allows their decor to interwine and create this tranquil atmosphere from within.
There are also provide broadband services at the hotel lobby itself, sleek 🙂
You can also enjoy complimentary internet usage if you order a drink from the Lobby Bar too. 🙂
All the pictures hanging on the lobby wall exudes both eccentric and bring back old school memories.
The sofa seating itself also lend a welcoming vibe for guests.
There are also various promotions at Lobby Lounge, like e.g. from 5pm – 11pm, you can get 1 jug Beer Free with purchase of 2. 🙂
In the hotel itself, there is also a Albert Cafe & Restaurant serving both extensive International & Local spread where you can wind down your day and chill if you just want a little peace and quiet in the evening.
There are various dining options available besides this, like Shish Mahal Restaurant where they serve local favourites indian food. Convenient shop right at the entrance or about 3 mins walk to the nearest 7Eleven. Other interesting shops under the roof includes wedding gown store, cafe & restaurants.
As for the ladies out there, you can also head down to the beauty saloon for a quick facial or perhaps experience Indian style threading services?
And if you are into some original Austrailian fusion dishes like Kurobuta Rendang, Barbequed Kangaroo etc, you will definitely find Kookaburra a place to go, with good quality wine to pair with.
There are also lots of outdoor seating which is great for both day & night outings. 🙂
No worries on the Singapore sunny days, fans and shelter are all set up for your comfort. 🙂
And if you really want to immerse yourself in the Albert Court Village Hotel Singapore, try out the unique Village Trishaw Tour ride.
Moreover just less than 10 mins away, you can have access to a wide variety of places of interest :
- Sim Lim Square to shop all kinds of electronic goods
- Little MRT Station to bring you to anywhere in Singapore

Tekka Centre which house some of best Indian food there, is open very early in the morning, so if you want something besides your hotel breakfast, this wet market might be some place which can be of interest to you.
If you are into cooking, you will definitely know the famous store inside which sold many overseas herbs and spices and fresh produce from around the world. 🙂
Besides food, there are also shops selling traditional colorful Indian & Punjabi clothing which can be great sourvenirs. 🙂
And if you are a supermarket franatic like me, where I will go to local supermarket whichever part of the world I am, then you will be happy to know there is a supermarket which span 2 floors just opposite the hotel.
You can get all sorts of local snacks which can be great souvenirs at Sheng Siong Supermarket at fraction of the price of branded sourvenirs, but double the local flavor. 🙂
Little India Arcade where you can find all sorts of colorful affordable jewellery and home decoration and even just some interesting snack with loads of Indian flavor. 🙂
And how about surround yourself with fantastic colors of nature? At Little India, you can find some beautiful rustic charm lies ahead.
The bold contrast of jewellery and clothing in between the many stores you will come across there is like no other. 🙂
Small sourvenirs is of abundance, and you are sure to be able to find one or two or even many more for your loved ones back home.
I also can’t help but get absorbed by the inspiration of the colorful objects that I see and experience in Little India.
Little India area really does comprise so many eccentric beauty yet to explore. And of course the colorful decorations and also fresh produce over there is a big draw for me. 🙂
From my first hand experience at Albert Court Village Hotel, it does have its own charm which somewhat exudes this Heritage vibe and through the decorations and set up, it is probably not difficult to find out why. 🙂
By the way, Albert Court Hotel has also launched a complimentary weekday one way shutter serve to City Hall MRT Station at 30 mins interval from 7:15am – 10:15am, so this added to the guests’ convenience when they want to travel to town to do a little of shopping. 🙂
As to the workshop, overall I feel it was both informative, practical and captivating, it is especially so, because they have chosen Albert Court Village Hotel to host the workshop, which I find is very cosy and the whole ambience was very laid back.
It sure doesn’t hurt that they have chosen Little India which is one of the few places why I love Singapore. So perhaps you can help me see if my blog does really improve after the workshop. 🙂
Big Thank you to Omy.sg ; Albert Court Village Singapore & Panasonic for this wonderful time spent. 🙂
