If you do decide to stay at Festive Hotel or just any other hotel, you might just pass by this gorgeous looking cafe just at Festive Hotel.
During our stay, I did some research and make sure I have some time to slot in some dessert tasting session at Boulangerie. 🙂
Boulangerie is supposed to be a modern patisserie which showcase various European pastry creations but with a twist. 🙂
They are popular with their macaroons, Summer Fruits Cheesecake, Cocoa Passion, Gelato and prices start from $5.60++.
What’s different about them is that they drinks are all at a flat rate of $6++
However this place somehow is always quite quiet so we were a little apprehensive to try it out but with the “might as well” thinking, we decide to venture the unknown with my son and mum and swiftly seated.
One thing that I really need to highlight is their staff, I must say they are one of the best service staff I have seen for quite a while. Extremely courteous, willing or rather happy to recommend everything in details and even proactively do things before we ask.
The waitress recommended us to try chocolate cake with a passion fruit fillings and also their famous strawberry pastry cake.
You can pair your cake with your favourite drink at $6 for the drink so live a little and choose something interesting, if not you might just sulk if you find you are paying for a hot plain coffee for $6 while others getting a ice cold latte. 🙂
Their macaroons look so colorful and adorable in the showcase. 🙂
This little cafe serve quite an extensive of snacks like quiche, pies, gelato, cakes, cookies, biscuits, sandwiches and light meals. The colorful decor is a big draw to me too. 🙂
I have yet to try out their gelato even though they look very tempting in every view, but for now I will just settle with my pastries. 🙂
Okay here is the low down of our taste test. Judging by the look, i could easily say they did pretty well, they play with color contrast and definitely looks very appealing for cakes lovers. And if looks aside, I would say I am not very impress with their rendition of heavenly European cakes with a twist.
Petits Strawberry – $6.50 per slice
I find the cake a little dry, I like cakes that are light and flavorful. If you have read my post you will probably know that my favourite cake shop is still Flor which are really good in making this combination to happen.
Over at boulangerie, there is just something lacking, it is rich but a bit overwhelming too so half way through it I found myself loosing my focus into finishing them up.
Petits Cocoa – $6.80 per slice
Drinks are nothing to shout about but managed to make my son happy with a hot chocolate and he doing his rounds of happy foam scooping. 🙂
Hot Chocolate – $6.00
If you ask me if I will return to try, my answer will be yes but on the gelato and quiche just to see if these will fair better than those I have tried.
All in all, if you wanted somewhere to chitchat and chill, this is a good place to do so, besides check in and check out time, the place is still a good chill out place. I have also seen quite a few diners too.
