I have been to a few American diners to curb my cravings for some big fat juicy burgers, and Chilis American Restaurant is one of the better ones which I like.
Compared to Tony Roma or Sizzler, I feel they are closer to what you will get from the States, be it the servings (servings are huge like US), or the taste of the food, good old American no nonsense restaurant food.
When Tanglin Mall branch opened, my husband and I have visited them and tried out their menu. It was also our first time to come across queuing alarm, they pass you these hand held alarm while you are waiting, and when your table is ready, the alarm will be set off and you will then proceed to the restaurant.
I like this idea much more than queuing aimlessly as time goes by so slowly, worst still, you will just have to look at people in the restaurant munching on while you just wait helplessly out there. So with this system in place, it makes the waiting time so much easier!
During that visit, I have gone there to try out their burgers, thick beef patty, with greens & cheese, oh so sinfully delicious. We also tried their Fajitas, which are grilled sirloin, served with flour tortilla, and condiments like guacamole. My husband ordered a chili to go with the meal, it was a mistake, not that the Chili was not tasty, it was actually pretty good actually, bu the issue is that the serving portions there were so huge!! Even my husband who is used to US portions, could not finished his meal.
While at Resort Sentosa, which is also my favourite branch, I went with my whole family so we got to ordered both mains and side dishes to share, love their Triple Play starter, which is a combo of appetizer consist of Chicken Crispers, Boneless Buffalo Wings & Southwestern Eggrolls.
I personally prefer the Resort Sentosa branch than Tanglin Mall because I could bring my son out to walk around when he start to fel restless, outside the restaurant which is just located next to the Hershey’s Chocolate Store, give me plenty of reasons to shop, and of course, the free chocolates sample that they give you at the entrance is definitely my son’s favourite hangout place. 🙂
Back to the food, one fo the highlight of my dining experience is their Baby Back Ribs, I remembered we opted for the Honey BBQ Baby Back Ribs, the meat was so tender, that you can just peel the meat off the bones, one of the best I have tried in Singapore for sure.
During both visits, my family were all so just full that we just could not order any dessert, but check out the chocolate mud pie that they have, I am hoping next time when I visit them, I will order just one less starter, and save some space for the dessert.
Although the portion is huge in Chilis, you can get the waitress to “da pao” back for you, I recommend you to cut half of the burger first before you dig in, as you can still keep the other half for later. During our visit, we did see a lot of customers requesting to bring back their unfinished meal, guess we are not the only ones who can’t finish their meal. Not that we are complaining thou..
Anyway, back to the promotions that Chilis is having right now, they currently have a lunch combo promotions. For only $14.90 (no service charge), from 11am – 4pm, weekdays. You can get to choose couple of things (mainly one salad or soup + one entrees which is a choice of sandwich, burger bites, pasta, sala, quesadillas, etc..) and did I say it comes with a drink too? That is going to be one hearty lunch at reasonable prices.
Or you may also stick around for their Happy Hour promotions too!
Every day of the week is a call for different alcoholic drinks like cocktails, bottled beer, you will just to work around your schedule to get the best deal of your favourite drink.
By the way, both branches also have To-Go menu so you can take out if you feel like some good old American diner food, but lazy to hang around at the restauarnt.
