I was chatting with my colleagues about nian gao today and also how many ways you can cook it, like steaming it and dip into coconut flakes, deep fried with yam and sweet potato, or the good old, pan fried with eggs. I was also told there are other ways of cooking it, like using popiah skin to wrap around it and deep fried, indeed, there are many ways of cooking it.
So I was checking out where I can get some nian gao this Chinese New Year, well guess it is still not too late, as most promotions only ends on 6 Feb.
The 7th Day of Chinese New Year is coming, and what’s better way to celebrate everyone’s birthday with a delicious Yu Sheng, for good tidings, and fortune for this New Year.
At Tung Lok, the Yu Sheng comes with fresh vegetables, mushrooms, and yam & sweet potato strips, drizzled with their specially concocted plum sauce.
I am a Yu Sheng franatic, one of the most exciting part for me in every Chinese New Year is being able to Lo Hei and eat Yu Sheng. So far, I like Crystal Jade and Putien for their flavor, but after seeing this, I also feel like trying this. In fact, I have already decided my next yu sheng is going to be this. 🙂

And of course, every meal will require some sweet endings, what’s better than some nian gao, doesn’t hurt that it comes with such exquisite packaging too! Tung Lok have Pandan flavored, Turnip Nian Gao and even Black Sesame nian gao too. Price at $20 each.
