GOOSE FAT ZERO TO PERFECT ROASTED POTATOES HERO – OH MY GOSH ITS THAT GOOD

Hi there

I have always wanted to try to make some really good baked potatoes, and I have also heard a lot about how goose fat can transform a simple potato to a wonderful roasted potato dish. 🙂

So there I was checking out new stuff in Cold Storage and saw this bottle of goose fat which is from UK of a decent size, something I can try perhaps in one seating and if it is really ruin, I won’t feel so much of a heart pain. :p And of course, the simple yet elegant bottle is a big draw for me, even better, it stated “For delicious roasted potatoes-” which is the theme of my dinner 🙂

Cooking delicious roasted potatoes have never been this easy especially for me, because I have tried in the past with olive oil but although it turned out okay, I will feel it is a tad dry on the palate so we will just see how this can help with the siutation.

Okay, perhaps just a little low down for goose fat first, I know, the first sound can kind of switch you off a little…. but if you can go pass that it is pure goose fat, you will just see how wonderful and useful this is.

Goose fat has a rich silky texture and in white pearl color and naturally liquid in room temperature, and why it is so good for baked potatoes is because they have a much higher cooking temperature than some other fats. You can use this for roasted potatoes, roasted vegetables and also fried bread.

I tweeted this a little, as it is my first time trying so I wanted to see how far this can bring me. 🙂

Cooking the perfect roasted potatoes is a breeze with this.

  • Russett Potatoes x 3 (because I like the powdery taste)

You will be glad to know that actually the bottle recipe request to use the goose fat liberally and as much as possible, but I only used 3 spoonful and I still find there are excess oil. So given the price I paid, it is really worth it since I do not clear the whole bottle in one go. 🙂

Okay and just how the potatoes turned out? The best I have ever cooked! The potatoes has this really nice crispy and slightly chewy crust and enclosed within is the fluffy or rather powdery russett potatoes! It is sooo delicious! need not to slave checking the oven so many times, the goose fat did all the job really. Marvellous use of something so simple!

I already know what I am going to try next time, perhaps roasted curry or papprika potatoes. 🙂

Tonight, I tried to cook these roasted potatoes and carrots with grilled mustard chicken now I am all pumped up to think of other dishes which I can make use of this bottle of miracle cooking liquid. 🙂

Happy Cooking!
