Halloween is just right at the corner, don’t you think lately Halloween is getting really popular these days? 🙂
I am starting to see so many Halloween trick or treat candies and costume, even selling in the supermarket. 🙂
As my parents in law will always send my son Halloween goodies every year, and my son always look forward to it.
So he kind of have a good grasp of how fun Halloween can be and when he first saw the Halloween decorations at Daiso, he has this big big smile and told me its Halloween. 🙂
I have also been educating him how Jack O Lantern is not scary, and also very fun if you make some food items out of it, and one of his favourite past time with me is to make pancakes so I got this pen from Daiso, and decided to let him do some edible art n craft. 😀
Ingredients Needed :
- Pumpkin – 1/8 of a pumpkin, steam in the rice cooker or microwave until it is soft, cool it down and mashed it
- Pancake flour x 1 cup
- Milk x 1 cup
- Egg x 1
- Dark Chocolate x 1/5 of a bar (as I have some in the fridge)
Directions :
- Steam the pumpkin, I find it easiest to just steam in the rice cooker, as it usually turn out very moist.
- Cool it before mashing it
- Mix the pancake powder, milk and egg into pancake batter, place pumpkin mash in it and mix well.
- Bowl a pot of hot water, place another pan or a crack resistent bowl and place the chocolate on it, the heat from the bottom pot will melt the chocolate in no time
5. You can also start cooking your pancakes, remember pancakes require no oil, just turn on low fire and on a non stick fry pan (I like Happycall), just pour scoops of batter in oval shapes to resemble the pumpkin.
6. When the chocolate is cooled down slightly, while still warm, you can fill the pen with the chocolate sauce.
And now, the time to have some real fun!
You can see how focus my son is making these pancakes, as it is chocolate sauce, he just can’t wait to take a bite into these warm delicious treat.
I find the Daiso bento pen very easy to use, but it is quite hard to wash out the chocolate sauce from it though after using.
Just draw a couple of triangles as the eye, a smaller triangle as the nose and a mouth, and Viola~ there comes Jack O Lantern – yummy version! 🙂
If you remember I have also tried making Sweet Potatoes Bear Pancakes , which is equally tasty and healthy too. My son loves this version and ate it for lunch and ask me for more during tea break. Of course the chocolate sauce do their part too. 😀
So now you just added a new activitiy this Halloween with your kiddos. 🙂
