HAPPYCALL PAN GYOZA RECIPES – SPEEDY CRISPY PIPING HOT GYOZA COMING UP

Hi there

Lately I have discovered one good use for Happycall Pan, and it is to use for cooking dumplings or Gyoza. 🙂

In the past, when I cook gyoza, I will use a pan to fry the gyoza, thereafter steamed them with some broth or hot water, so as to get the crispy skin and piping hot juicy meat fillings.

It can take me a little more time as I need to ensure that the gyoza base is crispy and especially after steaming, you have to monitor closely as not to oversteam it, resulted in soggy gyoza.

So with the Happycall pan, I am experimenting it to see if it can give me a different results in a much shorter time. 🙂

As I was browsing at Fairprice to get some ingredients for my Japanese ramen for dinner, I decided to have it with dumplings. As my favourite Ajinamoto brand was not available, I went for the Fairprice house brand which was on promotion.

With that, I was all ready to do my little Happycall pan test. 🙂

Firstly..

1) Add just a little bit of oil and use one of the gyoza to swipe the oil across the pan to oil it up, save you from using a spatula and also only half the usual amount of oil I use.

2) Place the dumplings close together and shut the cover of the happycall pan

3) Let it cook for 1 & half mins in low fire and open the cover to check if the base is brown and crispy

4) Once it is crispy, you can either fry it further by positioning the dumpling on another side and cook for a further 30 secs

By then the dumplings should also be piping hot in the inside, however if you prefer your dumplings to be a bit more moist, feel free to add some water in the pan, max 2 tablespoon and close the lid, and let it steam for 15 secs.

Everything cooked under just low fire. 🙂

Serve some black vinegar and sliced ginger or just some good chilli sauce. If you wanted the black vinegar with sliced ginger, julienne (sliced and cut finely) the ginger slices, and soak in water for at least 1 hour before serve.

So guess my test work, I cook these dumplings in less than 5 mins and in a much healthier way, quick and healthy at the same time – jackpot. 🙂
