JAPANESE STEWED SEAFOOD TSUKUDANI FROM TSUKIJI – ONE MORE BOWL OF PORRIDGE PLEASE!

Hi there

Whenever I am in Japan, I will make it a point to go to Tsukiji to eat Sushi and also walk around the wet market to do some shopping. 🙂

I also like to get the stewed seafood like scallops, shishamo, tuna and clams as souvenirs to my relatives and friends. In japanese it is called Tsukudani which is stewed seafood like small fishes or clams in soya sauce and mirin and sugar.

They are very popular because of the rich flavour, which is very sweet and savory, really addictive indeed. I am pretty sure older people will love this.

Sometimes you can also find it in the airport as well, but it will be more expensive and also you might not be able to get your favourite flavour, so I always stick to Tsukiji. 🙂

So just why I like it so much? Besides the Oh-my-god flavour, and how good it is when you pair with plain porridge or steaming hot rice.

And it is especially convenient because they are sold in individual package, and don’t worry if you are unsure what they are or how it taste like, there are many free samples for you to try it out and also they have drawings on the packaging, so you will have no problem differentiating them. 🙂

As I am writing this post, I am already craving for some plain porridge with chai sin and also these delicacies….
