My first encounter with Krispy Kreme doughnuts when I was in Boston, where I took my first bite into these out of this world doughnuts. Imagine how happy I was when I know that they have one store in Hong Kong airport, everytime when someone from my family goes there, I will always remind them to get a box back.
My husband is a die hard fan to these bad boys too!! haha.. It is really difficult to explain just how good they are. Both my husband and I love the glaced doughnuts, and when I found out that the Hong Kong branch closed down, my heart literally skipped a beat. 🙁
They have such a pillowy texture which you cannot find in any doughnuts shop. Simple yet with so much flavour to it. That thin layer of glace which instantly shoot you up to cloud 9 once you take a bite in it.
And this time round, I was at Jakarta and right before I enter the gate, I saw this sparkly shop, I literally squealed in delight like a little girl seeing a candy store full of barbies and candies!! And you know what is funny? After happily snapping up a dozen to surprise my husband, I was approached by an American asking me
American – ‘Madm, may I know how much are you selling these bad boys?”
Me – “Huh?”
American pointing to my sparkly boxes of doughnuts – “You know how good are they huh?”
Me – “HAHAHAHAA…. Yes I do!! Guess you will just have to come back to Jakarta to get more” Rounding off with a big smile 🙂
American – “Oh Man, darn, why didn’t I see that haha…”
So you see? these are sooooooo finger licking good, that I am still so puzzled why they have yet to bring in this brand to singapore yet, I have been hearing rumours here and there, and have been hoping that one of them can come true!! The latest one I heard is that some contract has been signed and 15 franchise stores will be opened for the next 5 years. Please please may it be true this time!
If you want to get that soft pillowy texture back after storing in the fridge, you can just pop into the microwave for 8 secs and that’s just what it takes 🙂
I don’t know what they use to make these doughnuts, but what I do know is for everyone I know who will be going to Jakarta, all I want is this – only this. 😀

Somehow I feel that Singapore’s market has a tendency to spoil good food… Look at those taiwanese snack shops, bubble tea and such.. once they get to sg, somehow the quality isn’t there… so it may not be a good thing if they do open in sg afterall 🙂

Yes indeed!! I am also so worry it will dilute this brand!! however sometimes the urge of just wanting to get my hands on it is so great especially after the Hk outlet closed down, haha it actually will be nice if they only have a couple stores to concentrate but i think i am still secretly cheering they r finally going to be here. 🙂 merry Christmas to u!
