ORIOLE CAFE & BAR AT SOMERSET 313 – WEEKDAY SET LUNCH REVIEWS

Hi there

At Somerset 313, there are so many restaurants there which can be really mind boggling when you want to find a place to chill and perhaps a leisure brunch? 🙂

Oriole is famous for their Fish & Chips and so together with my friend, we decided to dine over there, to just check out just how good fish & chips could be.

Oriole Cafe & Bar at Somerset - Beer sausage

Located just downstairs of Pan Pacific Serviced Suite, this cafe & bar is perfect to dine in on a sunny afternoon. After swiftly seated at the al fresco area, we were happily scanning through the menu. However what caught our eyes that day was the Set Lunch menu rather than the ala carte menu.

So both of our minds started to wander, and deviate from our original plans hee hee..

Oriole Cafe & Bar at Somerset

Their set lunch price less than $20 and comes in 2 courses, available from Monday to Friday.

As I am a big fan of rocket salad,  I could not resist this roasted pumkin salad which comes with fresh rocket salad, bacon, roasted pumpkin and feta cheese, drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette.

I just love this salad, how simple yet tasty this can be. The smoky bacon goes oh so well with the bitterness of the rocket greens, and the sweetness of the roasted pumpkin added different dimensions to every bite.

You have here savoriness, sweetness, bitterness,  and crunchiness all at every bite. Bind by the tartness of the vinaigrette dressing, this salad is like tango in your mouth. 🙂

Love the color of this too, what a suitable salad to kick start our lunch on a sunny day. 🙂

Oriole Cafe & Bar at Somerset smoked salmon salad

My friend chosed the smoked salmon salad, and the color is just so sweet! Generous portion of smoked salmon with salad greens. Yumm…

Oriole Cafe & Bar at Somerset pull pork sandwich

For main course, she opted for some pull pork sandwich, it is basically some stewed pork, which was then pulled into strips, drizzle with gravy and  stacked between 2 toasted sandwich buns. Serve with some crispy wedges and a side salad, this is a really filling lunch!

Oriole Cafe & Bar at Somerset - Beer sausage

I opted for beer sausage, with mash potatoes. The mashed potato is so light and creamy, perfect match with the gravy that goes with the sausage. Sausage although did not come with a crunchy casing, it is still great. The only one thing that was a let down was the frozen vegetables, I would rather they do away it and just add couple asparagus, as the vegetables has this frozen taste.

We both were really stuffed by then and decided we will forgo the desserts menu.

This is really one satisfying lunch and I am sure I will be back for the Fish & Chips that others’ rave about. 🙂
