PRODUCTS REVIEWS – HEINZ KIDS CORN CAKES / ALTERNATIVE HEALTHY SNACKS FOR KIDS

Hi there,

I am more of a rice crackers kind of person so I usually get rice crackers for my son rather than giving him treats like chips or biscuits or cookies.

I was at JB the other day and at Tesco, I saw this new product Heinz Mini Corn Cakes, there are two flavours available.

  • Apple & Banana (Sweet)
  • Tomato (Savory)

It is suitable for kids from 1 – 3 years old, but I think older kids will like it too. These little mini corn cakes makes a good treat for your kids as it is high in fibre, less “heaty” than regular biscuits, plus it is more nutrious.

As my son has polished off the tomato flavours, I am unable to show it here, but basically when you open the bags, you can smell a strong tomato aroma and there are tiny bits of tomato powder on the corn crackers, I tried one and I like it, as the taste is rather subtle, I find it suitable for kids.

Below is the apple & banana flavour, I think my son prefers the tomato flavour more, as there are already wide variety of apple & banana flavour treats available, so he seems to find the tomato flavour something new & will ask me for it.

I stored it in air tight container, and it still could last its crispyness, but beyong a week, I feel it started to soften, so perhaps placing some dry packs in the container can absorb more moisture & can last longer than that.

Try this out, and see if your child likes it, I have yet to pop by NTUC Xtra to see if this is available, since I bought this from JB Tesco.  (Cost less than $10 Ringgit) But if they have it, I think the price is quite worth it, as it is quite a big pack, & the most important thing is it is a healthy alternative for your kids that they will enjoy.
