Hi there
Beef Beef Beef, keyword of the week – Beef. I saw some good marbled cuts at Isetan Scotts Japanese supermarket, so decided to make some simple rice bowl for the weekend.
I actually have 2 recipes, one is teriyaki chicken and one is BBQ beef, as not everyone in my household are fans of beef, I cooked two. 🙂 But the time took is still really quickly and not mentioning the dishes. All I need is just the Happy Call pan. 🙂
Ingredients needed :
- Good quality beef x 1 pack (I like karubi cuts as it is suitable for BBQ and has a very good texture to it)
- Spring Onions x 1 stalk
- Japanese Rice
- Japanese soya sauce x 1 tablespoon
- Butter x 1 (about 2 teaspoon)
Directions :
- Heat up the happy call pan and place the beef on the pan (hint, do not overlap or put the meat too close to each other as juices/liquid will form)
- Do not close the happycall pan as well, just turn the beef over once it is cooked nice and smokey on the other side (which takes about 1 min)
- Cook a further 1 min and pour soya sauce ver it.
- Place the butter cubes randomly on the beef and let it melt over it and it is ready to be served.
You can always serve it up as a dish, or you can also make it into a rice bowl which I prefer to do during weekends.
Just scoop some japanese rice onto a rice bowl, place the beef over it and sprinkle onions over it
You can opt to chop the spring onions finely but I prefer to thinly slice it as I find it is more flavourful that way. 🙂
So as you can see, just a few easy steps, and you can already cook up a restaurant style Japanese rice bowls in mins. 🙂
You can pair it with a miso soup or a miso stew or a salad or a side dish too 🙂
So do try out this recipe, just a few ingredients, and you can also swap the beef with pork too if you are running low on beef.
