Hi there
After trying the Matcha House yuzu pepper pork rice bowl, I have been itching to make some at home. š
So on a lazy saturday, I have decided to cook up something really simple, just the yuzu pepperĀ sliced pork rice and also some seaweed miso soup.
Ingredients required (to feed 3 pax) :
- Sliced Pork x 1 pack
- Onion x 1/2
- Rice (Preferred Japanese rice when it comes to rice bowl)
- Yuzu Pepper Sauce (from Daiso) x 1 teaspoon
- Soya Sauce or Tsuyu (soba sauce) x 1 tablespoon
- Mirin x 1 tablespoon
- Spring Onions x 2 stalk (for garnish * keypoint)
Shabu Shabu or pork belly cut is best, choose the thinly sliced ones, I couldn’t find the very thinly sliced ones so mine you can see is still a tad thick, but it will work too.
Directions :
- Sauteed sliced onions in a non stick fry pan or pot with a little oil until slight brown
- Sauteed the pork for 15 secs and pour in the tsuyu (soba sauce), or soya sauce (I preferred tsuyu because it taste lighter on the palate and goes very well with the yuzu pepper sauce)
- Add the mirin and fry until fragrant.
You can of course choose to serve it right away, but I do like to stew it just a little to get the flavour simmered through the pork slices. š
To shred theĀ spring onions, you can use the Daiso onions shredder, or you can just cut in 5 cm length and slice vertically into fineĀ pieces.
Key point to this dish lies in the spring onions and the yuzu, the citrusy peppery taste brought out the savory flavour of the pork, and the onions just refresh every bite.
You can pair it with miso soup or seaweed soup or even egg soup (flowery egg soup in cantoneseĀ hee hee..)
So is this dish simple or what? If your family do not like yuzu pepper, just take that out, you will still get a perfect affordableĀ dinnerĀ in less than 10 minutes. š
Happy Cooking!
