QUICK & SIMPLE RECIPES – SEAH’S HERBAL CHICKEN – HERBAL GOODNESS AT YOUR FINGERTIPS – TRIED & TESTED

Hi there

I like herbal chicken, the really tender texture of chicken dipped into dark soya sauce with freshly cut chilli is really irresistible.

However I also find it hard to get nice ones in hawker center, for the good ones, the price you pay you get only a small portion which means I have to get a few portions at one go to feed the whole family and that add up the costs.

So when I see Seah’s herbal chicken mix, I thought I ll give it a try, sound like a no brainer recipe really. 🙂

Besides although I like to cook and would love to cook a multi course dinner, I love dinner that is a breeze especially for that tiring work night.

how to make seah's herbal chicken

  • Ingredients is incredibly simple :
One pack of Seah’s herbal chicken powder
  • One chicken
  • Chinese coriander optional

(see I told u is really easy 🙂 )

As to the Directions, basically just – (1) Wash / (2) Rub / (3) Wash & (4) Steam 🙂

  1. What you need is to wash the chicken
  2. Rub the chicken with the spices inside and out
  3. Wrap it up with the plastic wrapper then with the aluminum foid
  4. Steam for 2 hrs, okay I used pressure cooker so it consume less gas and I did it all the while with low fire.

This is really one dish which is impossible to mess up really. The only thing I can foresee is the water got all vaporized and you left with a hole in your pot 😛 .

Jokes aside if you are using a pressure cooker like me, you didnt even need to worry about the water too, because all the water will not vaporize as quickly as regular pot! 🙂

No matter how long you cook the chicken, you won’t over cook it as the longer you cook will only result in really tender and juicy chicken meat full of herbal flavour.

Once I opened up the wrapper, the immediate fragrant of herbs and chicken essence already confirm the success of this dish. Just sprinkle a little of coriander and you are all good to go.

Taste wise, it does not have that intense flavor of herbs, (okay for $2 plus I really don’t expect that much actually) but the broth that comes from the chicken are already beautifully infused to every drop, so with the herbal taste it actually created this very fragrant chicken broth.

We didn’t finish in one seating as we cooked a lot of dishes, so we stored in the fridge, and boy did it taste even better or what? The broth tasted even better overnight, and the chicken was so tender, it fell apart even using chop sticks.

However, the down side is that if you are somebody who prefer a more intense herbal flavour, then you might need to try adding more herbs or use a small spring chicken instead.

I used a regular one over kg chicken and fed the whole family, this dish only cost me $6 for chicken and $2.50 for the sachets of herbal mix. All for less than $10 fora satisfying meal.

Do try it out, 😉

Happy cooking!
