RESTAURANT REVIEWS – HUMMERSTONS – BREAKFAST + LUNCH = BRUNCH!

Hi there,

I was on my quest to collect my husband’s birthday cake at mohammad sultan from The Patisserie today, and decided to bring my mum and son to have a very special breakfast before the collection.

We searched high & low at Clarke Quay for some quality breakfast, but all we could find is MacDonald’s or food court which I didn’t feel like, where is my hearty breakfast!? So from Central, we slowly search our way to Robertson Quay, but yet again all shops were closed! I guess Clarke Quay is really not a place to find my breakfast, may be late night drinks or snacks will be a better choice…..

When I was nearly on theverge of giving up, I saw a small sign which could easily be mistaken as some salon signage, my curiosity get the better of me, and I went to check it out, and there it is! BRUNCH!!! I was totally ecstatic when I find that it is opened at 10am!! YOHOO!!

So after settled my mum & son to their seats, I moved on to check out the menu and ordered.

  • The Hummerstons Breakfast – $22++
  • The Hummerstons Pancakes – $14++
  • Hot Mocha – $5++
  • Hot Chocolate – $5++

The decor of the cafe is very chic yet cosy, very much reminded me of those cafes in NZ, it will be a great place to hang out with friends, or have a very slow leisure brunch.  I told myself I am in to a Good start.

When the food arrives, my son was so excited, because he get to see his “big big pancakes!”, and gave me a big good old smile.

The pancakes come with fruit compote, maple syrup & some fruit preserves. Pancakes was buttery & goes very well with the preserves & maple syrup. The fruits consist of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, kiwis &  grapes. I only wish that the fruits were a little sweeter, because they are so tart, I found myself drizzle more syrup than usual on to the pancakes.

The Hummerstons Breakfast really fit for a King! You get to choose how you want your eggs to be, which for me I choosed scrambled eggs. It consist of grilled mushrooms, tomato, bacon, garlic sausages, fried potato cubes, caramelised onions, buttery scrambled eggs, 2 slices of rustic toast & grilled asparagus.

The mocha & hot chocolate which I ordered, did not disappoint either, my mum enjoyed her mocha while my son loves the hot chocolate, you can definitely tell it when he start dipping bread & pancakes into the thick & milk chocolate. The chocolate is very dense and it is not those run down kind, which either taste too milky or too powdery.

Overall I think this place is really great for brunch, the ambience & the cafe food. They have balcony seats which is also great to soak up the sun while having your leisure brunch. I am pretty sure I will visit them again in the future to try out other hearty breakfast with my husband, or okay late night desserts with my girlfriends perhaps.
