I actually am looking forward to it, let’s just say I only eat this once a year, literally, so when it is the time, I will try to scout for some that is good. But of course, to me, nothing beats those that is home made.

Over the years, I have seen my grandma and my mother making their version of rice dumplings and I happily enjoy this every year, some time, I will get vegetarian versions made by my friends’ parents. But so far I have yet to try it out myself.

So come this year, I might just try my hands on it, perhaps try out a few fushion versions???  Just think of making my own version, with all the goodies I like sounds a lot of fun, oh well, may be I will just plan it out first. 🙂

  • Salted Rice Dumpling made from fried glutinous rice packed with pork cubes, chestnut, mushroom and 5 spices
  • Teo Chew Rice Dumpling made from pork slices and chestnut
  • Cantonese Style Rice Dumpling, which is my all time favourite made of pork cubes, egg yolk, green beans, and I love to drizzle sesame sauce & sweet sauce whenever I am in macau.
  • Kee Chang made of yellow glutinous rice which is cooked in alkaline water, great with sugar
  • Vegetarian Rice Dumpling with nuts / beans / chestnut etc
  • & many many many many many more

Various sizes, various flavours, and of course various prices, and you probably know every year hotels and restaurants are also coming up with interesting creations, some make sense, but some  err.. let’s just say pure luxurious indulgence. So I can’t wait to see how this year will turn out. 🙂

This year Dragon Boat Festival will be on 23 June 🙂 so stay tune to learn how to many rice dumplings & of course rice dumplings promotions. 🙂
