I bought some Sarang dining coupons the other day, and decided to go lunch there with my colleagues.
If you go to their website, you can find Korean starts photos as one of their selling point at Sarang Orchard Central, it seems like they did patronize there but to me I really know nuts about Korean celebrity except their food, so I am still pretty excited to go there. 🙂
Lunch at Sarang Orchard Central is pretty nice, we have chosen ourselves the al fresco seatings and the breeze with clear blue sky was just a perfect way to feel the hustle and bustle behind us.
We ordered our drinks which is the plum and rice drinks.
I like Korean rice drinks, it reminds me of barley drinks but somehow the sweetness from the rice has this really mellow nice flavour to it.
Of course how can you call it a Korean restaurant without some side dish, over here, the side dish comes in spicy dried carrots kimchi, regular kim chi and also stewed beans. Nothing much to shout about as I was hoping they have more varieties.
We also have Jae Chea which is the Korean potato starch noodles with vegetables, I like this dish a lot, fragrant with sesame oil flavour and the veges are fresh and crisp, together with the chewiness of the noodles, nice combination.
Bimbimba however was not my cup of tea, because it is not served in a hot stove, it has a combination of vegetables with a sesame sauce to drizzle over, I find it too raw because the quail egg was not thoroughly cooked even after I mixed in the rice. Flavour wise, is sesame so is all good but I think if it is served piping hot, it will be great, and the alfafa, well let’s just say, I have to keep check my teeth subconsciously after eating it, hee hee..
And the best part comes from the meat, hands down. We ordered the BBQ pork belly, this is oh sooooooo cold!! Piping hot (check), crispy juicy pork belly (check), great mashed potato at the bottom to soak up all the pork belly goodness? (check check check!!!!), love the mashed potato, tasted awesome!
To round off our meal, we also ordered the soldier stew, supposed to be a kind of stew which soldiers love because it is easy to cook and just add all ingredients into it to create this one pot wonder. Well for me, it also means it is easy to cook at home too, haha…
I recommend that you can check it out during the evening, because it seems like a really nice place to hang out and drink and chit chat, food pricing can be a little steep at times because of the smaller portions they serve but other than that, I will still like to come back for their grilled meats, still can’t forget those pork belly, haha..
