Hi there

I was meeting my friend to dine at Central a few weeks back, so took this opportunity to try out something new. Was kind of undecided in a few restaurants, but finally we settled for Haramiya Japanese BBQ which have 2 branches in Japan already. 🙂

Japanese BBQ is usually not “just Japanese”, it is usually influenced quite a bit by Korean BBQ as well, so you can also see side dishes like kim chi to be around. One thing I like about here is the smoke free grill that they use, so you don’t end up like a smoky stink bomb after you finished dining there.

They have several affordable BBQ set which is :

And if you feeling like you want to splurge bit, then they have a dinner course which include :

Beef Sirloin steak / scallop / shrimp / foil grilled mushroom / roasted chicken / assorted sushi cripsy chicken skin & raddish salad / miso soup / kimchi & namul $34.99

Once you reach the restaurant, you will be greeted by some really scrumptious plastic food dummies, so it gives you a good guide as to what to expect.

Haramiya Japanese BBQ decorations is base on simple black red white theme, this place can seat over 100 pax and each table comes with individual BBQ stove for you to do some cooking.

We ordered beef tongue $7.99 which comes in only 4 pcs of thin slices.

I tried two kinds, one is half cooked and the other one is fully cooked with some smoky burnt edges.

I couldn’t really taste it because it is way too thinlu sliced, one of the staff talked to us when we made our payment, saying she has recommended many people to come back to Haramiya to try out the premium beef tongue which is thick and juicy, too bad, she wasn’t the one that took down our order if not, I think the beef tongue will go down better.

Next a la carte order is salmon sashimi, once they are serve, the staff will promptly inform you to finish up all the raw seafood first, as the heat might not be good for this.

We ordered 2 sets, one is the Haramiya Dinner set ($15.99) and the other is Pork Belly Dinner set. ($14.99)

Haramiya set comes with good portion of beef, it also throw in a slice of onion and carrot too, but the vegetables looks so dried up eve before we wanted to cook them.. 🙁

Going to a Japanese BBQ restaurant can be quite tricky, the fact that not many people know how long the meat has to be cooked really varies, and sometimes it will be a waste if you ruin the good meat because you have overcooked etc.

Next is the Pork Belly Dinner Set. Salad was okay, just pure greens and onion slices. Side dish is mediocre, kimchi is good, rice is good too.

Pork Belly comes in quite good thickness, and you can get a crispy savory consistency if you cooked it longer on the stove.

It can be fun as well to try to figure out how to cook them in the possible best way.

The smoky flavoured is such a guilty pleasure! 🙂

I used some salad greens and added some kim chi to roll up with the pork and it tasted fabulous.

To round it off they serve some almond jelly, which is more like milk custard. I didn’t like this much because it is not as cold by the time we finished our meal and tasted overly sweet. It will definitely be good for them if they can serve it separately once we have finished the grilling.

All in all this place is affordable and food is not bad, they are also very clever to price all items with mostly end with 99 cents 🙂

READY TO SERVE

OTSUMAMI (Korean style appetizer)

OTSUMAMI (Japanese style appetizer)

WRAP

BEEF

CHICKEN

PORK

JAPANESE SEAFOOD STAND

FOIL GRILL

SASHIMI

SOUP

SALAD

HOT POT

SUNDUBU JIGAE

RICE NOODLES

BIBIMBAP

GUKBAP

DESSERT

BEVERAGES

BEER

SHOCHU

SAKE

UMESHU JAPANESE PLUM WINE

KOREAN

RESTAURANT REVIEWS : HARAMIYA JAPANESE BBQ RESTAURANT AT CENTRAL

Locations : 6 Eu Tong Sen Street #03-87, The Central, Singapore, Singapore 059817

Tel : 6534 9468

Happy Dining!

For latest news on restaurants, supermarkets, food fairs, or simply check out some of my simple recipe ideas & reviews, please visit us at singaporesupermarketrecipes.com or subscribe to our mailing list for more details.

Cheers,

Dawn

Hi there I was meeting my friend to dine at Central a few weeks back, so took this opportunity to try out something new.
