(Posting this earlier than usual, so you might want to try it out and source for the ingredients before the weekend comes. :))

When I was grocery shopping at Fairprice supermarket, I saw these really good looking Vietnam sweet potatoes, and I just have to get it. A bag for only 70cents.

We sometimes steam these sweet potatoes as breakfast but I know it will be too plain for my son, and the look of it just wasn’t as exciting, so I decided to make sweet potato pancakes for him instead, and literally “dress it up” into a bear face to entice him can be a good idea too. 🙂

I also bought instant pancake mix, which is under the Betty Crocker brand, I am a fan on Betty Crocker brand as so far all the products that I bought from them is pretty good and it doesn’t break a bank either.

What’s good about this is that besides making pancakes, you can use this for various cooking recipes, I will feature more post about the use of it, so you need not worry that you may not be able to finish this pancake mix. 🙂

What’s more, all you need is just milk & egg. 🙂

Ingredients for Bear Shape Sweet Potato Pancakes:

Directions for Sweet Potato :

Directions for Pancake :

1) Combine Bisquick pancake mix with milk and egg, and mix it to bind all the ingredients (Oh ask your kid to help you out, kids who make their own breakfast tend to want to gobble it up haha…)

2) Mix in the mashed sweet potato into the pancake mix and mixed it well

3) Heat the non stick pan (or Happycall if you want to cook it in one shot), and place scoops of pancake mix on it, cook this under low fire. Tips is to use a big spoon so you won’t need to double scoop for every circular pancakes you make. 🙂

4) Flip the pancakes when there is bubbles appearing on the surface of the mix

5) Once it is cooked, place and decorate to make it into a bear face. I used chocolate chips for its eye & nose too. 🙂

Add some fruits to go with it to “beautify” the plate as well. And you can see below the pancakes is full of sweet potato bits which is very fragrant after cooking. I like this pancake mix as it is very fluffy and rise very well. Very very close to the Japanese pancake mix but near half of the price of it.

If you are making bear face pancakes, then you will require :

This is a very healthy alternative to your kids or your own breakfast, drizzle in chocolate sauce / honey / maple syrup or just eat it plain just like me, as I can taste the bits of sweet potatoes in it. It remind me of those grill sweet potato I ate in Japan, as the aroma of the sweet potato is quite captivating, and as for my son? He is just happy eating his pancakes with no idea there is sweet potato in it. haha…

Happy Cooking!

QUICK & SIMPLE BREAKFAST RECIPES : SWEET POTATO PANCAKES IN BEAR FACE

Bisquick Pancake Mix : $4.43

Available in Fairprice Supermarket

For latest news on restaurants, supermarkets, food fairs, or simplycheck out some of my simple recipe ideas & reviews, please visit us at singaporesupermarketrecipes.com for more details.

Cheers,

Dawn

Hi there It was Sunday.
