My husband was the first one to introduce me to Tomi Sushi, we usually just walked past it and go to Saboten for lunch instead if we do\u00a0go to Millenia Walk for lunch. So far I have visited some gems like Octa Hotel <\/a>where they serve delicious japanese cafe food, and this place just found a new special place in my heart & tummy. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Surprisingly over these years,\u00a0this sushi joint\u00a0has never\u00a0fall under\u00a0our radar, even though they\u00a0serve such great japanese sushi.\u00a0 Anyway, its never too late right? \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Tucked at a quiet corner at Millenia Walk is Tomi Sushi, although it sounded\u00a0kind of\u00a0not very authentic Japanese like, but believe it or not Tomi is actually a Japanese word. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Honestly, the last few times which I passed by there, I couldn’t see many customers, but this time round when I went to dine there, that’s when I found out actually it is quite a popular place.<\/p>\n

There isn’t anyone right at the entrance to talk to you which is the way I like it, because sometimes I felt it is rather pressurizing to have someone standing outside the restaurant and try to get your attention, so with this, I am able to look through the menu at ease. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

There is also a mock up of the actual special lunch set menu at the entrance too, you know, photo can be deceiving sometimes, so this gave me a good gauge.<\/p>\n

And of course who can resist the gorgeous plastic menu at the entrance. So authentic Japanese haha… \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

And if you look closer, they also have a slice of Tomi Sushi history for you to look through, you might be quite amazed just how rich their sushi and sashimi serving history has been there., all the way since 1954, wow.<\/p>\n

One of the thing that my husband kept telling me was how good the rice they serve, not surprising, they have packets of really good Niigata rice pack at the entrance to entice you.<\/p>\n

The restuarant is pretty quiet even though there were a lot of customers,\u00a0everyone seemed to be very absorbed in their meal, a very good sign indeed.\u00a0\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

We ordered 2 sets, one is the Osusume Lunch ($45) which is highly recommended. And another one is Sushi Bento. ($38)<\/p>\n

Honestly, I feel for lunch, this is waaayyy out of my budget, but my husband somehow insist that I should try it once, so I will be the obedient wifey and listen to him, on his tap of course, \ud83d\ude1b haha.. (Thanks Papa!)<\/p>\n

Their soy sauce comes in two varieties which goes the same like any other good sushi places, \u00a0the difference between these two is the texture and also the depth\u00a0of the flavour.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

The set comes in very generous portion, I was quite surprised by it actually, the sushi that goes with it, is plated separately, so our table for two were already full when the food arrived.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

The tempura was crispy on the outside, fresh and juicy in the\u00a0inside, there is no hint of any\u00a0greasy\u00a0after taste to it, and is paired with the authentic grated radish with tempura\u00a0dipping sauce.<\/p>\n

But nothing beats the highlight of all menu, the sushi. Every sushi is so fresh and because all are freshly prepared by the resident sushi chefs, I was really having high expectation of it. Even the clam sushi has this really fresh crunchy texture to it, a gem indeed. You can never find those flimpsy tasteless ones here.<\/p>\n

The sushi is so fresh and plump, and under the dining light, look a little sparkly too, haha.. no kidding, it really looks that tempting. The fish roe that is used on california maki are bright, crunchy and flavours are bursting inside your mouth in every bite.<\/p>\n

I am starting to recollect the wonderful cunlinary memories I have at Tsukiji market in Tokyo when I brought my family to there years back.<\/p>\n

Even when I usually\u00a0do not take\u00a0Aji\u00a0sashimi, I still\u00a0dive into it, because they are all\u00a0so fresh!\u00a0Chawanmushi is done the authentic way, pudding like with\u00a0good balance of dashi and egg flavours, paired with all the\u00a0little treasures of meat and vegetables in it. My boy gave it a two thumbs up.<\/p>\n

Haha.. Couldn’t resist to take this pillar of tempura. Like an architecture in the making \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

The\u00a0grilled saba fish was lightly salted, and it was not\u00a0those stretchy dried fillet, but having a\u00a0very fluffy soft texture, my son love it, the only thing is that there were quite a bit of bones, so you might want to be careful if you want to feed the little ones.\u00a0But besides this, this is definitely a rice topping dish, my son swiftly finished few bites of fish with rice because it is so fragrant and also asked me for more.<\/p>\n

My husband who ordered the set with all the maguro sushi, was so satisfied with the meal, I can tell his has this\u00a0pure enjoyment\u00a0in every bite, and I even tease him on that, hahaa..\u00a0I also got to enjoy one\u00a0piece of the chuutoro from his set, and it\u00a0literally melted in my mouth. I am a fan now.<\/p>\n

There are definitely many places out there that serve really good sushi and sashimi, but of course all comes with a hefty price tag, although this place is not cheap, it is also not expensive given the quality and portion of it.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

So if you want to change your usual sushi outing to something extra special, do try Tomi sushi out, this is now one of the best sushi place under my list, and I am pretty sure my husband will back me up on this. \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n
