If you have read my post about Fortune food<\/a>, which sell popiahs in many parts of Singapore.<\/p>\n

You probably wonder if they are really good. Okay, now I have tried and tested it after many times of trying out during lunch. So I finally got their DIY popiah pack and see if I can both have fun and enjoy our home made popiah \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

For $22, you will get 15pcs, they give a larger portion than that, mostly I think because they worry the skills of “average people” like us will not be that good, and most likely need to test a couple before you are right on track. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

The DIY set comes with a big box of :<\/p>\n

• cooked turnips,<\/li>\n
• popiah skin,<\/li>\n
• cucumber ribbons,<\/li>\n
• crushed peanuts,<\/li>\n
• fried bits,<\/li>\n
• fried eggs bits,<\/li>\n
• sweet sauce,<\/li>\n
• chili paste,<\/li>\n
• corriander and<\/li>\n
• crushed garlic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  Okay, this is how I rate the taste of each ingredients :<\/p>\n

  \n
  • cooked turnips <\/strong>– tasty and do not taste overly salty<\/li>\n
  • popiah skin –<\/strong> although not as good as the Joo Chiat popiah shop, but it is still good, not too thin which will\u00a0tear easily and not too thick which can fill your tummy up quickly<\/li>\n
  • cucumber ribbons <\/strong>– fresh however, it will even be better if there is bean sprouts<\/li>\n
  • crushed peanuts <\/strong>– fragrant and packs a punch in taste<\/li>\n
  • fried bits –<\/strong> give the popiah more bite with crunchy bits<\/li>\n
  • fried eggs bits –<\/strong> I didn’t like how they use fried eggs, not as nice as hard boiled eggs<\/li>\n
  • sweet sauce –<\/strong> good<\/li>\n
  • chili paste <\/strong>– great! very spicy and has such a good kick!<\/li>\n
  • corriander <\/strong>– fresh, couldn’t really find those yellow corriander bits<\/li>\n
  • crushed garlic<\/strong> – good<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    My family\u00a0also steamed some lap cheong, savory chinese sausage to go with it, and everyone loves it very much.<\/p>\n

    My family also enjoy making the popiah as well, it kinds of a bonding session and you get to laugh at each other like how crappy their popiah looks like and making fun of the greedy one who want to make the biggest popiah of all. \ud83d\ude42 Even my son got into action, so it was really nice.<\/p>\n

    Although taste wise, it can’t be compared to those like you eat at Qiji but at this price, I really think it is worth the amount I pay, we couldn’t even finish the DIY kit in one seating, and ended up with 2 meals for 3 people.<\/p>\n

    So overall, I will still get it again if I have a party or just a home gathering, but of course, with me, I will add in many more goodies in it. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
