Are you looking for something to do with your kids? If you enjoy some simple cooking with them, why not try your hands on some very delicious freshly baked muffins? \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

In my past post, I mentioned I will try on some Easter muffins with my little boy and we are nearly there. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

A prelude to a Happy Easter, I want to try my hands on muffins, decorating per ser. I have made muffins before but all instant just add water and mix with a whisk, that’s it.<\/p>\n

So this time round, I want to break my tradition a bit and try my hands on some, however I got a problem which is – I am really bad in baking.<\/p>\n

Really. The biggest reason is because I am a bit too flexible when it comes to ingredients, like for hot savory\u00a0dishes I usually estimate for\u00a0all the spices\u00a0and that’s why I love it. However when it comes to the baking world, measurements matters and sometimes my itchy hands will just tweak the recipes and it might not go well at all. \ud83d\ude1b<\/p>\n

So this time, I will be a amateur baker with my son, hopefully this time it will work \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

As I already drafted out the design with my son (yes I actually did that to engage him in this activity) I went to Phoon Huat to source for my supplies. I decided to make a proper muffin but get instant icing and decorations to design them. Budget $20 and I will see where it will takes me \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

So firstly sourced for Red Man French chocolate muffin powder and then moving on some edible decorations, saw these incredibly adorable edible icings that come with shapes of eyes, ears and mouth. So I decided to make animal muffins and also flowers as it will be easiest.<\/p>\n

Anyway, if all things fail, just poke in a butterfly or flower toothpick to “beautify” it. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

So what I did was blend below ingredients together :<\/p>\n

• Half a packet of Red Men French Chocolate Muffin powder<\/li>\n
• 3 eggs<\/li>\n
• 125g of softened butter<\/li>\n
• 1 – 2 tablespoon of water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  <\/a><\/p>\n

  Basically what I did was :<\/p>\n

  \n
  1. Preheat oven\u00a0170 degrees<\/li>\n
  2. Blend all ingredients together<\/li>\n
  3. Line paper muffin cups inmuffin tray and scoop into the paper muffin cups and line\u00a0 (kids love to do this, my son was so concentrate doing it, he didn’t even say a thing throughout the whole process – & that is rare. \ud83d\ude42 )<\/li>\n
  4. Bake for half hour or until you poke in a toothpick and when it is out, it is try and no residual in it.<\/li>\n
  5. Cool it thoroughly as the icing will melt on it if it is not<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

     Now is decoration time, I got myself some instant icing, and make sure it does not taste plasticky, so got this which actually state Great Tasting Icing, for $3 each color. I didn’t even need to make any piping paper, but just draw on the muffin\u00a0Viola~!<\/p>\n

     My kid enjoyed so much o the decoration part, we wanted to make cat just like how the packaging look like, but instead, I would say it is more like a lion. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

     The icing was really easy to spread out, my son did one himself but insist on using a knife to spread it, so it look like a puppy which just played in a mud bath, haha…<\/p>\n

     But after that, all the muffin turn out really great, he even know how to pipe the icing on the muffin! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

     Okay, for 2 amateur bakers, I think this batch of cupcakes ain’t that bad, right? \ud83d\ude42 So I suppose if you have the right tool and icing, even amateurs like us can make some cute cupcake muffins.<\/p>\n

     Oh, for 12 cupcakes, and all the ingredients, it cost me $20, but since I divide it into 2 batches, these 6 cupcakes is about $10, however the time spent with my family is priceless. \ud83d\ude42 It doesn’t also hurt that the cupcakes taste really great!<\/p>\n

     I will try my hands on making another batch of cupcakes, this time is Easter theme so stay tune, and you might want to try it out this coming long weekends. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
