I was at the Hokkaido Spring Food Fair at Takashimaya <\/a>on the last day to see whether there is something interesting to look out for. May be you can use this as a blueprint of your next visit to the Hokkaido Fair. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

It is actually a little similar to the Winter Hokkaido Fair at Takashimaya <\/a>as well, they have their ever crowded Croquette store, where they have the $15 for 3 large crab, scallop croquette, and also the mini salmon cheese croquette ($9\/6pcs) and salmon croquette ($5.50\/pc).<\/p>\n

Marudai Suisan were selling King Crab at $198\/pc (Approx 1.5kg) & King Crab Leg at $13\/100g & Hanasaki Crab was at $83\/pc. I was chatting with the staff there, and they were selling me that the largest ones were already sold on the first day! Wow there is really a market here in Singapore huh.<\/p>\n

Scallops which is larger than the palm size of my 3 year old toddler were also selling for $63 per pack, but as it is frozen, you can always savor it slowly and store it in deep freeze. \ud83d\ude42 $63\/box (approx 500g)<\/p>\n

There is also a new store which is the Kani Kobo which means Crab Factory, selling some really mouthwatering bento set.<\/p>\n

• Kani Kobo Bento – $20\/box (with both shredded crab and whole crab legs)<\/li>\n
• Aji Kurabe Bento – $22\/box (with crab, salmon eggs & sea urchin)<\/li>\n
• Kani Zukushi Bento – $30\/box (with variety of crab legs)<\/li>\n
• Kani Kobo Kaisen Bento – $26\/box (with crab and salmon eggs)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  If you want something more savoury, I recommend the grilled shishamo, $14\/100g and oh so tasty! great for porridge or just on some plain white rice. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

  As in all fair, there are also a main stay which is marinated and preserved seafood. Because is Spring Hokkaido Food Fair, the flavour is very much different from the Winter Fair, my family sampled a few, and my husband like the Ika Shiokara (marinated squid innards)\u00a0the most.<\/p>\n

  • Ika Shiokara – $9\/100g<\/li>\n
  • Ika Sashi Matsumae – $9\/100g<\/li>\n
  • Cod Roe – $17\/100g<\/li>\n
  • Marinated Ikura in Soya Sauce – $22\/100g<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    What was different is that instead of just grilled meats and squid skewers, they also have freshly grilled Hokkaido Corn too!<\/p>\n

    I saw a few people got the grilled corn which is at $7\/pc, although is steep, but the corn is really big and you probably be quite filled up after finished it. Freshly grilled with some burnt bits, the aroma is really mouthwatering!<\/p>\n

    Other Grilled Scallop and Grilled Squid is also at $7\/stick.<\/p>\n

    Other stores include Japanese Fish Cakes and also Ramen, which you can sampled it before making your purchase.<\/p>\n

    Fresh ramen were available at Takeaway ramen servings was at $11\/portion, which comes in<\/p>\n

      Fish cakes were average around $3 – 4 each, some interesting looking ones are the corn stick and the squid stick, which is at $3\/stick.<\/p>\n

      Now moving on to the ever beautifully packaged Hokkaido Desserts. \ud83d\ude42 Dessert fans will not be disappointed with the Rare Cheese cake at $6\/pc & White Pudding at $6\/pc available. There were also new items like Mel Cheese which is cheese cake with both plain and caramel flavour and pumpkin flavour. At $18\/8pcs box.<\/p>\n

      If you are a fan of pumpkin, try out the pumpkin pudding at $6\/pc too.<\/p>\n

      Other goodies for the sweet tooth include Swiss Roll with Cream at $20\/roll and also the White Chocolate & Cheese Dacquoise at $3.50\/pc from Joli Creer. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

      Well, hope this post can help you make your decisions beforehand as to what to get \ud83d\ude42 I am hoping they will have a Summer Hokkaido Fair, as I have yet to check out what’s in store for us. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
