Today is the first day of the Japan Fair at Takashimaya, and I popped by to see what’s in store for all of us, although I forgot my camera, hope my Iphone photo can still show you what goodies you can get from this Japan Food Fair. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

This fair is quite different from other food fairs I have seen, and you can find products that are not very commonly found in food fairs\u00a0too because this fair did not market a certain region of Japan, so you can find products from many regions all at one go. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

There are juices from Sembidya Bouhonten Japan and cost $6\/cup while Fruit Jelly is from $7 a piece with real fruits inside.<\/p>\n

While crackers fans will be really happy to know that these delicious crispy on the outside and soft savory on the inside rice munchies are available too! Freshly fried rice chips is at $5\/50g and there are demo for rice crackers too, from $9 per piece, from Mochikichi Japan. There are a wide range of rice crackers with sampling too.<\/p>\n

There are also fresh japanese vegetables for sale, a bit pricey but pretty norm if it is air flown from Japan.<\/p>\n

Besides these, there are also Japanese oyster selling over there too. If you do not know or can’t think of any cooking method, you can get the cooked ones from there. They are selling individually fried oyster too, at $2.20 each. In my last frozen oyster purchase at a Isetan Food Fair during Chinese New Year<\/a>, I got the frozen japanese oyster and it tasted exquisite, creamy, sweet\u00a0yet firm after dunking it in the hot steamboat broth. So do try out, it really taste a difference in Japanese oyster, even if it is frozen.<\/p>\n

If you are a seaweed fan, then don’t miss out checking some handmade rice balls Omusubi at $2.80 each, come in Sour Plum \/ Spicy Cod Roe \/ Tuna & Mayo \/ Baked Salmon flavour. My favourite is the Spicy Cod Roe which goes so well with chewy japanese rice\u00a0\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

They are also selling the Hello Kitty Nori Chips, my family bought one can before and it tasted so good! Don’t judge the book by its cover, these little cutesy Hello Kitty seaweed packs a punch and taste really nice just on its own or with hot steam rice. All courtesy from Yamamoto Noriten who is a leading supplier for seaweed now and\u00a0has an impressive history of\u00a0serving six generations of highest quality seaweed. Kids will love this.<\/p>\n

Ah, now comes sweet tooth fans. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Try out some Baked Wheat Cakes which is at $2.90 per piece or some Japanese cookies Gaufres D’Ange, a type of cookie which is a thin cripsy that sandwiched softly with variety of vanilla \/ strawberry \/ chocolate cream\u00a0at $3.60 each under Kobe Fugetsudo brand that is still a local favourite for western style\u00a0sweets\u00a0in Kobe after 115 years.<\/p>\n
