Hi there

Heard that Rakuichi opened an outlet at Greenvich V which is just off Seletar Road and thought I will go there for some Mother’s Day celebration as I have never tried there before. 🙂

It was quite quiet and we thought it might be a great time to leisurely enjoy our sushi lunch.

The place is still very new and only opened for a month ago, it consist of both conveyor belt and ordered sushi, menu is fairly straight forward, sushi, temaki handroll sushi, some ala carte cooked items like grilled items and a few rice bowl with udon.

Actually honestly I was quite surprise about the choices in the menu. Perhaps being spoiled by many other japanese restaurants where they have a far more extensive menu to choose from, so far I am not particularly impressed by them. Drinks is a simple affair, green tea at $1.20 refillable and coke is $2.50.

Another thing that i think they might be able to improve perhaps is the menu layout, if I have seen the menu before I walked in, I think I might not have gone in at all because the photos of the sushi and food was really dull literally.

To me it wasn’t that appetizing because the photos are all so gloomy, there just wasn’t any colors or strong selling point or anything that will entice you to order some more.

So after I have checked through the menu several times, I decided to order some temaki and also a futomaki with spicy salmon Inari sushi ($3.20) Even my husband was quite surprise how disinterested I was in my order.

My husband has always been a big fan of maguro sushi ($3.20) so when his order arrive, he just chowed down his beloved tuna sushi, but mid way he just asked me to see his sushi and he just did a flip and showed me just how the sushi look, the sushi rice was shaped like a small pebble with a sashimi over it. It didn’t taste bad actually but just bland, and the rice was rather hard.

We wonder why the rice tasted so bland and even the sashimi could not help to perk up the rice. Futomaki ($3.20)isn’t that bad as there are generous fillings in it, but again the rice just tasted…bland. Soya sauce that goes with the sushi is also not as robust like other sushi place.

There temaki handroll is made on the spot, it comes in “slimmer” version, and has less rice in it.
