Getting out of the hustle and bustle is always something on everyone’s mind, nowadays you can go on to overseas trips to recharge yourself or you can opt for something simplier and cheaper – Staycations 🙂 And even better Staycations at Resort World Sentosa – Festive Hotel – Singapore Most Family Friendly Hotel – a hands down winner.
I decided to do something fun with my family especially my son, but the urge to travel overseas just got a lot more tedious thinking of all my son’s things I have to lug around, so finding a nice hotel to stay in will be great. Staying in Singapore, even picking a hotel in city area will be boring for him. I need a place where I can tired him out, okay I mean let him have a whole lot of fun. 🙂
So here I am, searching and googling through so many hotel websites, and decided to go to Sentosa, what’s better time to enjoy Resort World Sentosa, try out Universal Studio and get a taste of Malaysian Food Street. 🙂
So after checking out the Resort World Sentosa website, found this really great WOW package, cost me $588 Nett, but include so much goodies :
- 2 x Nights Resort World Hotel room stay – Family King Room
- 2 x $25 resort world vouchers ($50)
- 2 x Universal Hurricane Glasses
- 2 x tickets for Universal Studio
I did my maths carefully before I make my booking, deducting all the freebies, it was a practically a steal, and you will know why I said so. 🙂
Once you reach Festive Hotel, you will greeted by many colorful decorations and interesting artwork, which is so photoworthy and looks all oh so cute with the little ones posing around them. 🙂
Front desk check in was a breeze except we were in too early, as the check in time is at 3pm, we were asked to return at 2pm so that they can ensure the rooms are all nicely prepared. The front desk staff were all courteous and try to ensure you have a great time there.
You can leave your luggage at the concierge and also you can get a 3 days unlimited sentosa express coupon too, for drivers, they have complimentary parking as well. 🙂
During check in, you might want to ask for a high floor room which face the swimming pool, as you get to see more lush green, Festive hotel is 8th floor high, so that’s the limit.
Once you enter the room, you are instantly greeted by the cheerful festive colors theme that goes from the lobby all the way to the rooms. 🙂
For a Family King room, you will be able to get 1 King size bed, 1 sofa bed and 1 loft bed, yup, you hear me right, 3 beds for the price of 1 room. Now you can see why I say this is the most family friendly hotel in Singapore – EVER 🙂
And when it comes to the loft bed, you do not get those tiny shaky double decker kind of bed, it is really a very nice retro feel loft bed, with great mattress and blanket and a mini pillow, I suspect this loft bed is more for little kids, but I still recommend you not to leave the little ones there alone, as the ladder to the loft bed is rather steep.
My son love it when he saw it and insist to sleep there for his afternoon nap, I think it reminds him of the slide with the ladder attached to it. 🙂 The loft bed actually can sleep 1 adult and 1 child in there, and it doesn’t feel squeezy at all too. It is like this very cozy corner, and during the evening, the aircon in there can ensure you to have a very cosy comfy time up there. 🙂
The color theme as I mentioned is like a buffet of festive colors, bursting alive in every corner of the room, paired with dark brown wood, it gave a very good contrast that tone down the brightness and at the same time, cheer you up with that ever bright cheerful color.
Amenities wise, you get to have bathrooms for the adults, bathrooms for the little ones too, the kids’ bathroom is upon request thou. There is iron board and iron, a safe which I used for the ever first time, regreted how I didn’t use it in the past, thinking it was very difficult to use. So on this trip I tried it out, and it was just so simple!
There are also slippers for both adults and kids too, everyone get their share of comfort. 🙂
Other ammenities include the usual suspect, bottled water by Dr Who and a speed boiler for hot water and a ice bowl.
I was a little disappointed by the ammenities thou, as I expect Resort World Sentosa will provie some ammenities that may exceed my expectation, however, given the milo and the TWG tea, I think I should be content about it. 🙂
Water are replenished daily, even you didn’t finish your first 3 bottles, which I thought is a very nice gesture from them, as you can also take it along with you during your visit to Universal Studio Singapore.
See, these are the slippers they provide, not suprising, they are all in bright cheerful orange. 🙂
The little ones were so adorable! My son practically wouldn’t go anywhere without it.
They also have this really comfy sofa bed, when I book the hotel, I thought the sofa bed will be something you need to pull out with spring coils squeaking when you lay on it, and so to my surprise, or delight, it was actually a sofa bed that makes out of 2 stack of sofa cushions and can fold out into the soft bed.
Inside the sofa bed was already a clean sheet tucked nicely so that you can use it as a bed sheet. The sofa bed again can sleep 2 adults, like a super single or close to queen size bed.
It is firm and you can ensure a good night sleep. 🙂
One thing that I want to point out is that sometimes it is quite difficult to get through the front desk, I called couple of times to get some directions, and twice I could not get hold of anyone, but when it went through, they are all very courteous and eager to give you advise. 🙂
TV was a large LCD screen which you can pull out to shift to your preferred direction, so you can watch your favourite show on the loft bed or sofa bed.
It is an interactive TV, with games, dining guides, casio details, shopping guides, gaming all at the click of a button!
I was on the 4th floor, so I couldn’t get much of a view even though I was facing the pool
But nevertheless, you get to see a lot of greenery and especially after the rain, you can really breathe in that fresh unbeatable clean air, where you can’t get in the city. Ah… fresh air from Sentosa. 🙂
They also have hanging stand for you to dry your washed laundry, especially useful when you need to wash your children swimming costume and needed somewhere to dry.
The decorations in the room is a reflection of flowery orchid images, which exudes this elegance and romance too.
There is also a mini fridge in the room, but it is empty, so you can get to fill it up, I don’t think anyone with a clear mind will want to spend a bomb on mini bar, right? Hmm.. perhaps if you are a rock star or celebrity, okay, or someone that is really loaded, haha..
If you are bringing little kids, your little kid will be given this welcome pouch with goodies for them to explore, they will get a kid toothbrush, 2 balloons (those long balloons that you see at baseball game), a bath sponge or rather towel, a rubix cube, all packed nicely in a plastic pouch.
As I also planned to explore Sentosa island, I also made serveral purchase at other coupon websites to get daily sentosa package, so we got to go into the island by cable car ride and enjoy the scenery along the way. 🙂
The welcome package also includes their in house Spa, Spa Republic, couple of $38 vouchers for you and your loved one to enjoy. As I have already purchased a spa package at deal.com, I have opted out this and rather used my spa package there instead, the spa is actually located just right at the lobby on the 3rd floor.
There is also a very detailed guide to advise you where to eat or spend with your new found $50 resort world vouchers too. 🙂
Overall I am really satisfied with the room itself, sometimes it does not really matter how the size of the room is, but rather how they are smart enough to utilize the limited floor space to create this coziness which makes you feel like you are at home, but of course in a luxurious way. 🙂
One thing I must really mention is that the bedding that they use are beyond exquisite, usually in other hotels that I stayed in, I have a hard time with the quilt because it is either too heavy or too warm, however over here I felt like I was sleeping in this gigantic marshmallow, and I was so impressed in the bedding that I actually google it to see what mattress they use, and I found it, they use Simmons Cool Max mattress, which is why they all feels sooooo good, suppose to deviate the body heat making your sleep even better.
Even my husband said this is the best hotel bed he have ever slept. I totally agree with him. Plus my son, who is usually a mini kungfu fighter during his sleep, slept like a little sheep that night, 1st ever, this is how good the mattress are. Â
Moving on is the bathroom, hotel bathroom to me is very important, I need a clean bathroom, preferably with good ammenities and of course a great shower, I personally could not understand the beauty of rain shower, or perhaps I should say I do not know how to appreciate it, so I was really praying hard that I will not get it here. And boy, was my prayer answered or waht.
Bathroom is very spacious, pity they do not have a bathtub, because given the size of the bathroom, they can definitely fit one there.
Other ammenities like hair dryer, hand soap, body soap, shampoo & conditioner is available. They have makeup mirror and thank god they do not have those freakish enlarged mirror where you can find yourself dizzy just by staring at it.
Oh they also have a match box in the bathroom too (giggle)
I love the scent of the products, but I really get all frustrated by the container they use, because each pump only gives out that one drop of products, and to get some shampoo with conditioner from the bottle was really a challenge and a work out too, lucky it was during shower that I have to work out some sweat, haha…
One of the greatest part of the room I must say besides the generous bedding and the ultra comfortable mattress, is the shower.
Shower brand is Hansgrohe, which is made in Germany, they have 4 options of shower experience, and the best one of all is level 4! The water that came out from this showerhead is with the ample amount of water and the water pressure was excellent!
It is like a massage every single time I use it, even little kid thinks the same thing. My 3 year old came back home from the hotel for his first shower and he told me, “Mama, shower too small, hotel one is nice” 🙂 And I also agree with him totally.
One of the best shower experience I have in a hotel indeed. 🙂
Resort World Sentosa hotel also advocates green environment and they encourage you to do your part like they only change the towels if you think you need to by placing on the bathroom floor. 🙂
Outside of the hotel room, you can also find ice making machine which is free of charge, vending machines for tidbits at reasonable pricing.
All the resort world hotels are link to one another with shops linking them through a walkway and convention.
And right next to the lobby, you will be able to find several shops for you to shop around, brands like Victoria Secret is one of them.

And of course how can you miss their signature decorations, large bright latterns hanging across the high ceiling of the hotel lobby.
Right at the lobby of Festive Hotel, there is also a cafe Boulangerie, where you can kick back and relax to enjoy your come of beverage price at $6++ each, and of course with their oh so mouthwatering looking cakes and sweets.
Next, is another highlight for my son, the swimming pool. There is a large 1.2m pool and also 1 x 0.5m kids pool, plus couple smaller kids pool as well.
You can sit on these shelted area where they have comfy sofas and ordered your drink to enjoy the weather.
Kids will be entertained with these water spray facilities, great for phototaking too, so much fun and so colorful. I was at Hard Rock Hotel one morning for breakfast and I spotted their swimming pool, it is really a swimming pool with a difference, a bar in the pool, man made beach and a island dedicated for the kids to have fun. My calender is marked. 🙂
You can see families enjoying their time early in the morning at the pool, both adults and kids have a great time for sure.
Right next to the swimming pool is their restaurant Fiesta. They serve BBQ grill and is famous for their weekdays semi buffet dinner which start from $28++ per person.
I was there the first night, comtemplating if I should dine there, but the waitress there was sooo nice! They advised us to go and see the spread of the buffet first then decide if we want to dine there, as most of the food my son might not like, we decided to take a rain check, and the staff actually was so nice that they asked what is our preference and took the liberty to introduce other cuisine which we might like in other restaurants, this is what I called service with a smile – a true sincere one.
If you wanted to grab a drink, you can also head to the Fiesta lounge, and get your fix too. 🙂
Of course with the package, we get to enjoy Universal Studio Singapore, and because my son is below 4 years old, he did not need a ticket, we actually came out of universal studio as well to let him nap as you can go back there as many times as you want within the day with the UV stamp you have on and the tickets you have.
If you wanted to enjoy Universal studio with the adults only, you can consider having your child at their Kids Club which is over at Hard Rock Hotel, your kids will be looked after by skillful staff, where they can enjoy activities like story telling, music & movement games and also Arts & Crafts, Xbox, Play station, all for $12 per hour, if you are a Genting Rewards Carmember, $8 per hour. Open to all kids from ages 3 to 11. They can also prepare meals too.
You can ensure the safety because the one who leave them there need to have their photos taken to make sure the same person will bring them back too.

As the package did not include breakfast, we decided to use the vouchers at Starz restaurant at Hard Rock Hotel.
The breakfast is international, you get a good mix of western delights like eggs done your way, sausage, bacon, smoked salmon and ham, various breads, asian delghts like roti prata, naan, lasi lemak, mee hoon
And a very mean D-I-Y porridge, I love the fish porridge they have, because you can throw in all sorts of condiments like pickled vegetables, peanuts, black bean with fish, fermented tofu, salted eggs, and drizzle in light soya sauce with sesame oil, and a sprinkle of freshly cut spring onions. Breakfast that will charge you up for the whole day. I had 2 bowls myself – enough said.
You can also ask them for freshly cooked mee rebus too.
The decor in Hard Rock Hotel is very hip and spruce you up like a rock star. 🙂 Breakfast Buffet here is $28++ per person.
If you want to do something more for the kids, bring them to candylicious, where they have their own mini version of strolley, so that they can roam around to pick up their favourite candies.
Even for those who didn’t want to get anything will not be disappointed too, because they have many large cute looking cartoon characters from various chocolate brands like Reese, M&M, Jelly Beans just right outside the store.
Other restaurants include Hard Rock Cafe, Chilis, Imperial Treasure, Ruyi, Fish & Crab Shack, Ding Tai Fung, 8 @ noodles & many more.
If you want to save some money for more activities, then you can also head down to Malaysian Food Street.
Immerse yourself to the traditional Malaysian backdrop and indulge with the scrumptious food. I bought the porridge there twice for my son, and he loved it.
Other eateries I found was not as great as I thought the newspaper hyped them but it is still a good mix and for people to experience something different.
There is also a breadtalk and also Toast box there, surprisingly the price is the same as what you pay outside of Sentosa, so you can see a queue there in the morning, I think most of the people are employees working there but there are also many tourist there to enjoy their cup of good coffee without breaking a bank. 🙂
Over all, I had so so so much fun there, and I am very sure I will be back, because this is such a nice place for family bonding. The package they offer was unbeatable if you book directly through their website and keep an eye or a look out of some amazing deals they have during off peak season.
I am sure by the end of this enjoyable trip with fantastic sleep, fantastic shower, and fantastic fun with your family, it will just make you want to organize a lot more to have this family bonding. 🙂
By the way, I have compiled a list which you might think useful if you are bringing your kids to there. 🙂
- Sunscreen or sun block
- Swimming floats and costume
- Hot water flask if your kid still drink milk powdered milk and the air con can be strong and boiling water cool down rather quickly
- Tidbits can be purchased at vivo city before you enter because you may need to pay a premium of it, I paid $3 for a small bottle of coke
- Slippers
- Video recorder / waterproof camera or recorder / camera for that wonderful memories
- Detergent to wash the bottles & laundry detergent if you want to wash some of your kids under garments or swimming costume
- Cleaning wipes
- Fever med or cough med, you can always store in the fridge, as temperature can be hot out there and you never know how quick a child can get a fever from the high temp
- Toys to entertain them in the room
- Jacket to ensure the little one is warm always
Other tips will be to scout for other sentosa packages, so you can also enjoy yourself around the island too, at fraction of the price. 🙂
