Hi there
It’s getting hot lately and all I crave for is something light and crunchy, I have been wanting to make Shiso salad for a long time and now is the best time to whip this up 🙂
You can also check out Japanese shiso leaves in another of my post. 🙂
For this shiso salad, I recommend you to use white radish or bean sprout as both give it a very nice light crunch.
Ingredients
- Bean sprout x 1 pack (pluck out the ends or follow me and buy vacumm ones which are all cleaned if u want to save time)
- Carrot x half finely sliced
- Cucumber x 1 finely sliced
- Sesame seeds, optional
- Lemon rind x 2 peels, finely sliced
- Shiso leaves x 6 leaves
- Any dressing of your choice (this goes well with sesame dressing / wafu Japanese dressing / citrus dressing, something soya base
Directions
- Finely slice shiso leaves like this
- Blanch bean sprout and carrots julienne in hor boiling water for 15 secs
- Sieve out and let it run under tap water or ice water.
- Mix all ingredients together or add sesame, shiso leaves with lemon rind to brighten up the dish
- Drizzle your favourite dressing to make it a healthy low cal and nutritious salad for the hot Singapore weather 🙂
I love this make this to go with some grilled meats, this add as a side dish and provide lots of crunch which my family loves.:)
