GLACE PATISSERIE AT ICON VILLAGE – DOUBLE TAKE OF FLOR PATISSERIE?

Hi there

It was my mum’s birthday, so we decided to order our yearly birthday cake for her, every year we will try to either find a new flavour or new cake shop. So this year, we will go with a new flavour to one of our favourites. Mille-feuille aka the Napoleon cake. 🙂

Mille-feuille has always been one of my favourite, and my favourite so far is still Flor Patisserie by Chef Yamashita. But this year my sister wanted to try something new and went for Glace Patisserie at Icon Village instead, as they have this flavour Banana Mille-feuille which was supposed to have pretty good reviews.

The reason why we love Mille-feuille is because of the combination of thin pastry and cakes, layered overlapping each other, which gives creamy cakes a very light texture.

We usually go for either Mont Blanc which is chestnut or strawberry, so when she found out there is banana flavoured, it naturally became a must try flavour. 🙂

The cake comes in several sizes, but we opt for 15cm x 15cm which is $45 each, comes with generous slices of banana.

Flavour wise, I think it is just alright, nothing much to shout about, may be because the banana flavour is a little too light, however the pastry was crispy and light which compliment the cakes and fresh cream very well. The texture was firm which was so much easier to handle when we need to cut into square slices.

Although banana is a good idea, however I think because it is banana, the look of it doesn’t last as long, not only the color is not as striking, and also the banana start to turn brown after we kept in the fridge for a night which was quite unfortunate given the hype they have.

Well up till now, I am still sticking to my favourite Patisserie, but I will definitely back to try out their cakes, anyway, I do find their menu is just too similar to Flor by Chef Yamashita, but just something… something was missing….
