QUICK & SIMPLE RECIPES – SEAWEED SALAD FROM DAISO

I got this pack of seaweed from Daiso during one of my hunt for Daiso goodies at Rivervale Mall. If you like seaweed or perhaps want some changes to your usual vegetable salad, you can try out this dry seaweed pack. It is quick & simple to make and requires zero cooking.

It is only 16 kcal & also contains kanten, a form of “agar agar”, which is both delicious & healthy. Japanese ladies love to eat kanten as a form of diet too. Ingredients is all up to you, whatever you want to put in, you can put in some chicken breast too if you want to up your protein, but I personally prefer just only seaweed + cherry tomatoes + cucumber slices.

Directions :

1) Open the dry seaweed pack & place in a bowl with tap water for 5 mins. (try to keep to this timing, as once I have over soaked it and the seaweed became a little soggy thereafter)

2) Slice cucumber & cherry tomatoes

3) Sieve the seaweed out of the water, (you will find the seaweed expanded after absorbed water), mix the sliced cucumbers & cherry tomatoes.

4)  Drizzle any dressing you like to the mixture to make a healthy salad. I recommend to use soya sauce base dressing. Or mix some sesame oil with kikkoman soya sauce. (2 tablespoon of soya sauce + 1/2 teaspoon of sesame oil + a little squeeze of lemon)

For less than $3 bucks, this dish can serve as a side dish for 4 pax, you can also try to use this to mix with vinegarette to make it an appetizer too.
