JAPANESE SHISO LEAVES – VERSATILITY OF THIS SIMPLE JAPANESE LEAF

Hi there

There are many times you might probably see these Shiso leaves on your sashimi plate or takeaway carton. These leaves are usually shiso leaves, which is very versatile and is eaten raw in Japan. Korean also has their own shiso leaves but is called Hangul.

The Korean ones come in large sizes and also the taste are a little stronger than japanese ones. They are used to wrap up grilled meats, and goes very well with it because of it minty taste. I tried both (Shine Korean Supermarket do sell it), and I still love the Japanese version more. 🙂

Shiso Leaves

You can buy these leaves from Japanese supermarkets or Fairprice Finest too. I got mine this time from Finest and it cost $1.95 for 10 pcs. Looks little but it actually can cook many dishes with just one pack. 🙂

KOREAN CELEBRITY CHEF EDWARD KWON RECIPES – EDVENTURES IN ASIA

Hi there

I love cooking shows, therapeutic and inspiring, you have no idea how many times I will go nuts and want to try out and replicate the dishes after I saw those featured on TV. I personally prefer lighthearted, something that also broaden your mind & heart while you watch it, so a little bit of the country and on their culture is what I like.

Edventures in Asia by Edward Kwon

And that is the beauty about food, it transcend through all countries, just by food alone, you can tell so much about the people, culture and that’s why it never fails to amaze me how even simple food can unite people.

I just got info that there is a new cooking show coming up. 🙂

What this cooking show is about this Korean celebrity chef Edward Kwon, who will take road trips to various countries to create new dishes by infusing Korean elements into authentic Asian cuisine. I saw some trailer on his episode, and he is lively, light hearted and quirky, just like how my Korean friends are, which makes the show quite charming and captivating actually. 🙂

YAMAJITSU BUTTERFLY TRIVET – GARDEN ON THE DINING TABLE

Hi there

Every household one way or the other will have trivets in their home, I only got to know this fancy word not long ago too.  Use to just call it “the mat, the mat”, how the world have changed huh? Such an elegant term now. haha..

Yamajitsu Butterfly Trivet

Anyway, I admit I am one of the majority of the population who use the traditional kind, not newspaper, but the boring brown trivet. However if you want something that is both useful and looks great on your dining table, these butterfly trivets will definitely be under your radar.

Yamajitsu Butterfly Trivet

These butterfly trivets can withstand up to 220 degrees heat and -40 degrees freezing temperature and is very flexible and of course washable too.

REINA MY CUTLERY – VERY CHIC MADE IN JAPAN CUTLERY ON THE GO

Hi there

I enjoyed cooking for my son, and even when we dine out, it is always good to bring my own set of cutlery. As for myself, if I am going to make bento to work or picnic, the cutlery gives me an excuse to vamp up the bento set too.

Reina My Cutlery Set

Anyway you probably have read one of those emails circulation about how toxic those disposable chop sticks are, although I read it with a pinch of salt, I also try to use less of it, and also I would rather put my focus on doing my part for the earth instead, so this cutlery set will come in very handy when you prepare or enjoy your meal outdoors.
