We all know Unagi is great on rice, but how well it goes with pizza, I was one of the skeptical diners but changed my perception after trying it in Japan in a Japanese Italian cafe.

I love how the unagi fluffiness compliments the thin paper like thin crust pizza and the sweet sauce that goes with it, make it a heavenly pair. 🙂

QUICK AND SIMPLE RECIPES – SCALLOP WITH ASPARAGUS AND CELERY – GREAT TASTING FUNKY GREENS

Hi there

Couple weekends ago, I saw there was a promotion on Mexican asparagus, and I dun mean the skinny ones but the gigantic intimidating looking ones, so pop by to check it out and end up buying 4 sticks back home. Honestly, it really didn’t look that appetizing at all, as they look rather dry, but given the health benefits how it can flush out toxic from the body, these little odd looking vegetables does pack a punch. 🙂

simple & quick recipes - scallop with asparagus and celery

While I was schooling and working as a waitress at a Japanese restaurant, the chef once taught me, it is okay to buy dry looking ones as long as it is the root portion and not the tip that is dry, because you will need to shred away the skin before you cook. So here I am, giving it a try and testing out his theory! 🙂

Okay, Dish of the Night, something quick and simple yet tasty, better still something that can lessen the load of my goodies filled fridge.

So the lightbulb moment came when I saw left over Bacon from breakfast, left over celery from previous diner and also frozen scallops from Chinese new year.

SIMPLE AND QUICK RECIPES – COLD OR HOT SOBA RECIPES – A JAPANESE NEW YEAR MUST

Hi there

I got this pack of Japanese soba from Isetan Scotts couple days back to celebrate Japanese New Year with my family. That got me thinking, soba is getting really popular these days, in most Japanese restaurant, you are able to order Japanese soba or udon. Like my husband, he love to order a hot soba or udon at the end of a meal in most Japanese restaurant, and finish the whole meal with this hot bowl of yummy noodles.

Japanese New Year Soba

In most supermarkets, not just Japanese supermarkets, or even at Daiso, you can get your hands to a wide variety of soba. They mostly come in dry packets, just like pasta, all you need to do is to cook it at home. In Japanese supermarkets like Meidiya at Liang Court or Isetan Scotts, you can also get the frozen or fresh ones too.

Cooking soba is really simple, all you need is just a big pot of water (actually small one works as fine, but most likely only enough for 2 pax). Soba sauce which you can get in supermarkets, I usually get mine at Daiso, since it cost only $2 and taste just as good.
