MENICHI AT NORTHPOINT – RESTAURANT REVIEWS & PROMOTIONS

Hi there,

I was at Northpoint the other day meeting up with friends to have dinner at Menichi.

Menichi takes pride of its tonkotsu soup which is boiled for 14 hours, to get that pure essence from pork bones, chicken bones and vegetables.

ITACHO SUSHI – IS IT REALLY BETTER THAN SAKAE SUSHI & SUSHI TEI?

Hi there,

Lately have been having this cravings for sushi, and have been buying supermarket ones back home to curb that cravings, when I was given a proposal to dine at Itacho sushi one day by my husband, I was more than happy to accept this one time offer. Come on, How can a wife say no to her husband right? 🙂 What’s more, I can get to do a review on it, Yohoo! even better!

Itacho Sushi Signboard

This will be my second time to try out Itacho Sushi, the first time was in Plaza Singapura when they just opened their restaurant there so this will be my first time at their Ion Orchard outlet. Their pricing is rather steep actually, since the price you see is actually translated to 1 pc. yup. 1 pc and unlike Sakae sushi or Sushi Tei where they will serve couple on 1 plate, you only get one.

You can see from their banners that their sushi is as low as $0.40, however after checking out their menu, I am still wondering which sushi actually cost $0.40, as even tamago which is egg sushi is priced at $0.90. Bean curd Inari sushi may be???

DAIKOKUYA RAMEN – MY VILLAGE SERANGOON DINING EXPERIENCE

Hi there,

Was pondering where to have dinner the other night, and decided to go to Serangoon Garden as I have not been there for ages. Saw some posters a few weeks back at Serangoon station annoucing the opening of My Village Serangoon, so take this opportunity to explore this new shopping mall and write a post about the review of the eateries there.

Daikokuya Entrance

But first, we needed to find somewhere to settle our rumbling tummies, hawker center seemed too smoky, coffee shops seemed too warm, especially with a kid in tow, is just asking for trouble, so there we were, roaming through small roads & lanes, and finally found our way to My Village, it is actually quite a small neighbourhood mall as a matter of fact. Something like the Siglap shopping mall, they have a few eateries, like Shinkushiya, Daikokuya,&  anchor supermarket is Ntuc Finest.

TONKOTSU KING KEISUKE RAMEN RESTAURANT REVIEWS

Hi there

Have been hearing quite a lot about this new ramen restaurant Tonkotsu King Keisuke Ramen so thought will try it out with my friend and treat him a birthday dinner & have my reviews on this too.

The branch at Parco has a revolutionary broth which is without pork bone base (as most ramen place use) their broth is made with mainly fried shrimp, giving it a very rich flavour which is kind of like our noodle prawn noodle, and they only use white soy sauce. Keisuke Tokyo Ramen has also recently won the title of Ramen Champion at Tokyo Ramen Championship 2011 in Japan which is The Ramen Champion Series as and their chef has also been crowned as Ramen King.

But enough said on the Keisuke Tokyo Ramen, we are here to review about their sister restaurant Tonkotsu King Keisuke Ramen. Continue reading TONKOTSU KING KEISUKE RAMEN RESTAURANT REVIEWS

RESTAURANT REVIEWS – TONKICHI JAPANESE RESTAUARNT & IN HOUSE PROMOTIONS

Hi there,

I was at a company gathering at Tonkichi Suntec the other night, and decided to do a restaurant reviews on it. Saw some in house restaurant promotions as well, so hope you can try it out next time when you visit them.

Tonkichi is pretty much one of the several places you will go to if you want some good quality tonkatsu, or deep fried pork chop/cutlets/seafood. They serve good portions & always maintain consistent high quality dishes.

Tonkichi

Of course there are also several big players around like Saboten, Tampopo, Tontei, even MaMaison Japanese Western where they do serve good quality tonkatsu. But Tonkichi is really one of the original stores that has been around for quite some time and over the years, we still go back to them when we have cravings for some deep fried oysters or pork chop.

RESTAURANT REVIEWS – CANTON RECIPE HOUSE BY CHEF KANG

Hi there,

Remember one of my post about the Heavenly Feast menu by Canton Recipe House, the new restaurant that is opened by the award winning chef – Chef Kang? I went over the other day to try out this heavenly feast menu & decided to do a restaurant reviews on this.

Canton Recipe House located at Parc Soverign Hotel, the new hotel that is just next to Lasalle School of Arts. Inside the restaurant, there are a few tables, which should able to sit about 70  – 90 people. It is hidden at the corner of the Parc Soverign Hotel, next to 7/Eleven.

Outside the restaurant, there are many posters showing many meal sets they have for 2 pax, 4 pax, etc. I was expecting it to be a quiet lunch but to my surprise there are actually quite a few customers in there.

Well back to this Heavenly Feast menu which they advertised, original price of $698+, now this “Chef’s Exquisite Set Menu” 50% off at $349+.

Dishes include :

  • Superior Shark’s Fin in Hot Stone Bowl
  • Abalone in Chef’s Special Sauce
  • Deep-fried Garlic Soon Hock Fish
  • Chickenwith Spring Onion
  • Pork Ribs in Wasabi Plum Sauce
  • 3-Egg Garlic Ensemble with Vegetables
  • Lobster Ee-fu Noodles
  • Dessert Delicacy

The side dish to snack on is the usual braised peanuts, the braised peanuts were tasty & cooked just nice, unlike some that are served in some Chinese restaurant that can be over salty & overcooked.

RESTAURANT REVIEWS – HUMMERSTONS – BREAKFAST + LUNCH = BRUNCH!

Hi there,

I was on my quest to collect my husband’s birthday cake at mohammad sultan from The Patisserie today, and decided to bring my mum and son to have a very special breakfast before the collection.

We searched high & low at Clarke Quay for some quality breakfast, but all we could find is MacDonald’s or food court which I didn’t feel like, where is my hearty breakfast!? So from Central, we slowly search our way to Robertson Quay, but yet again all shops were closed! I guess Clarke Quay is really not a place to find my breakfast, may be late night drinks or snacks will be a better choice…..

When I was nearly on theverge of giving up, I saw a small sign which could easily be mistaken as some salon signage, my curiosity get the better of me, and I went to check it out, and there it is! BRUNCH!!! I was totally ecstatic when I find that it is opened at 10am!! YOHOO!!
